Who Buys From AeroVironment?

The US Army accounted for about 25% of fiscal 2026 revenue, and other US government agencies and government subcontractors for another 47%. Foreign customers, including foreign military sales through the Pentagon and commercial buyers, made up 28%, and no single foreign country exceeded 10%. No individual contract was more than 10% of funded backlog. Named foreign interest in Switchblade includes an $80.1 million Greece package for Switchblade 300 Block 20 that the State Department approved in July 2026, per The Defense Post.

Recent AeroVironment Contracts and Developments

On 2 September 2026 the Army awarded AV up to $464.8 million for its first production laser weapon, the LOCUST X3, as covered in our report on the Army’s first production laser weapon. Days earlier, on 26 August, AV announced a $51 million Army delivery order for Switchblade 600 Block 2 plus Block 1 systems for a foreign military sale, under the $990 million Lethal Unmanned Systems contract. The company says Switchblade 600 has been fielded across more than 20 brigade combat teams since 2025.

The counter-drone market AV competes in is getting crowded. See the recent DroneShield domestic counter-drone award and the Army’s $7 billion counter-drone contract, and compare the scale with the group profiled in Northrop Grumman’s company profile.

What to watch
AV guides to $2.125 to $2.225 billion of revenue in fiscal 2027, so the second-quarter report will show whether growth accelerates beyond the 6% seen in the first quarter. The LOCUST X3 production ramp and further Switchblade 600 Block 2 orders are the other markers.
