L3Harris Technologies is a defense and aerospace company headquartered in Melbourne, Florida, that makes tactical radios, space sensors, electronic warfare systems and, through its Missile Solutions business, solid rocket motors for missiles such as THAAD and PAC-3. It was formed on 29 June 2019 by the merger of Harris Corporation and L3 Technologies.

The company employed about 45,000 people at the start of January 2026 and reported revenue of $21.9 billion for 2025, according to its annual report and earnings release. About 75% of that revenue came from the US government and $4.8 billion, or 22%, from international customers in more than 100 countries. Its chief executive is Christopher Kubasik.

On 5 January 2026 the company reorganised from four segments into three. The earlier structure used Communication Systems, Integrated Mission Systems, Space and Airborne Systems and Aerojet Rocketdyne as its four segments; Missile Solutions now includes the legacy Aerojet Rocketdyne operations.

In the second quarter Space & Mission Systems booked $2.97 billion of revenue, Communications & Spectrum Dominance $1.94 billion and Missile Solutions $1.05 billion. The company attributed Missile Solutions growth to higher munitions production. Contractual backlog at the end of fiscal 2025 was $38.7 billion, with about 45% expected to convert to revenue in fiscal 2026.

The Harris radio line is the best-known part of the portfolio. The AN/PRC-117G is a software-defined VHF, UHF and L-band manpack radio covering 30 to 2,000 MHz, certified by the NSA for traffic up to Top Secret and used by US services and several NATO armies. Alongside radios, the company builds night vision goggles, airborne electro-optical sensors and electronic warfare suites.

In space, L3Harris built missile-tracking satellites now in orbit. Five launched in February 2024 from Cape Canaveral: one Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor demonstrator for the Missile Defense Agency and four Tranche 0 Tracking Layer satellites for the Space Development Agency. The company also holds a $919 million contract for an 18-satellite Tranche 2 Tracking Layer constellation, as described in its own release. Its optics work extends to civil science, including the primary mirror assembly for NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope.

Propulsion is the fastest-growing area. Missile Solutions makes solid rocket motors at Camden, Arkansas, Huntsville, Alabama, and Orange, Virginia, and liquid divert and attitude control systems for THAAD in Los Angeles. The company is building roughly 60 new facilities and adding more than a million square feet of manufacturing space across three states, according to its September 2026 release.

Who Owns L3Harris and What Is the Missile Solutions Investment?

L3Harris is a publicly traded company. In April 2026 it closed a $1 billion investment from the Department of War in its Missile Solutions business, structured as a convertible preferred security that converts to common equity if Missile Solutions holds an initial public offering. The company said it intends to pursue that listing in the second half of 2026, subject to market conditions, and would keep a majority stake.

Separately, on 4 August 2026 L3Harris completed the sale of a majority stake in its commercial space propulsion, power and electronics businesses to AE Industrial Partners at a total enterprise value of $845 million. The buyer’s new business takes the Rocketdyne name and L3Harris keeps about 40%. The RS-25 engine operations stayed with L3Harris.

The largest recent awards are propulsion contracts from Lockheed Martin. On 8 September 2026 L3Harris announced a $4.7 billion, seven-year undefinitized award for PAC-3 MSE propulsion, including the two-pulse solid rocket motor, lethality enhancer and attitude control motors.
