Is America Bracing for a Second 9/11? “Bizarre” Coincidences and Strategic Red Flags on the West Coast

GLOBAL STRATEGY DESK — When we analyze the current data points circulating within U.S. defense corridors, the resulting picture points to something far more ominous than a routine “security alert.” In the realm of intelligence, coincidences are rare, and isolated incidents often form a larger, more disturbing mosaic.
Let’s align four critical variables currently raising alarm bells regarding domestic U.S. security and the broader geopolitical standoff with Iran.
1. The FBI’s “Offshore” Warning Recently, the FBI circulated a bulletin warning of a potential asymmetric threat: the possibility of Iran launching drone attacks from commercial or disguised vessels off the coast of California. While the intelligence was downplayed in some circles as “unverified,” this dismissal carries a chilling historical echo. Does this not eerily remind us of the infamous August 2001 Presidential Daily Brief titled “Bin Ladin Determined To Strike in US”—a warning that was tragically ignored?

2. The Missing Hardware: The Fort Campbell Heist Compounding this offshore threat is a glaring domestic security breach. Four highly advanced Skydio X10D drones were recently stolen from the Fort Campbell military installation. Skydio, notably a supplier of drone technology to Israel, produces AI-supported platforms with formidable capabilities. The theft of cutting-edge military drones from a secure U.S. base raises immediate, terrifying questions about what these autonomous assets could be used for in the “wrong hands.”
3. A Familiar Name in Real Estate: Larry Silverstein In the world of high-stakes commercial real estate, timing is everything. Larry Silverstein—the developer who famously leased the Twin Towers shortly before the September 11 attacks, subsequently engaging in a massive, multi-billion-dollar insurance settlement process—has recently made headlines again. Silverstein has reportedly purchased the US Bank Tower in Los Angeles, one of the tallest buildings on the West Coast. In the context of the FBI’s California warnings, the timing of this high-profile acquisition is, at the very least, highly conspicuous.
4. The Political Catalyst: Manufacturing Consent Finally, we must look at the political landscape. Currently, U.S. public support for a direct military operation against Iran has plummeted to around 20%. History has repeatedly demonstrated a grim geopolitical reality: when public consent for a major conflict is critically low, it often takes an “unexpected” and catastrophic trauma to rally the nation and instantly surge that support to 90%.
The “Ground Zero” Question The ultimate question remains: Are these simply unfortunate, disconnected coincidences, or are they the “foreshocks” of a new global design? As a defense analyst and journalist observing these intersecting anomalies, I am compelled to ask: Is the West Coast of the United States being positioned as the next “Ground Zero”?
