Nurol Makina’s YETİŞEN 4×4 enters Turkish service with scalable armour, Chinook airlift

Anadolu Agency reported on 4 November that Nurol Makina’s NMS-L 4×4 light tactical wheeled vehicle has entered service with Turkish security forces under the name YETİŞEN, honouring the major whose surname it carries. The vehicle was developed for reconnaissance, patrolling, personnel transport and weapon-system carriage, and now appears as “YETİŞEN 4×4” on Nurol Makina’s official website.

Protection and mobility

According to technical information released by Nurol Makina, YETİŞEN provides scalable ballistic protection to the NATO STANAG 4569 standard, allowing the protection level to be configured to the expected threat. The vehicle has a fully independent suspension system, run-flat tyres and a central tyre inflation system. It can carry up to five personnel and is designed to operate between -32°C and +55°C.

Its published off-road figures include a 0.9-metre fording depth, a 0.9-metre trench crossing, a 70 percent gradient climb, a 40 percent side slope and a 0.5-metre vertical obstacle. According to AA, YETİŞEN can be carried slung beneath CH-47 Chinook transport helicopters, supporting rapid deployment where ground transport is difficult.

Optional equipment listed includes a manual open turret, an autonomous fire support system, front and rear night-vision driver assistance cameras, a four-camera 360-degree driver assistance system, automatic fire suppression and explosion suppression systems for the engine compartment and crew cabin, and a siren and public address system.

Naming and fielding

The vehicle bears the name of Infantry Commando Major Murat Kemal Yetişen, killed on 5 February 2025 in the Claw-Lock (Pençe-Kilit) operation area in northern Iraq. Nurol Makina had previously named its EJDER YALÇIN 4×4 after Yalçın Dizdaroğlu, the head of the special operations branch in Hakkari who was killed on 19 October 2012.

The NMS-L was first unveiled at the IDEF 2023 exhibition and was displayed under the YETİŞEN name at SAHA 2026. According to AA, Nurol Makina has also developed a new-generation electric configuration. It was not disclosed which agency has taken the vehicle into its inventory, how many units were delivered, or the contract value.
