Embraer is a Brazilian aerospace manufacturer headquartered in São José dos Campos that builds commercial E-Jets, executive jets and military aircraft, including the C-390 Millennium transport and the A-29 Super Tucano light attack turboprop. What Is the C-390 Millennium and Who Has Ordered It?

The KC-390, marketed abroad as the C-390 Millennium, is a twin-jet tactical transport and aerial refuelling aircraft that entered service in 2019. Embraer calls it the largest aircraft ever built in Brazil. By the end of 2025 the 13-aircraft fleet had flown more than 20,000 hours, with a mission capability rate of 90%, per the company.

What Is the A-29 Super Tucano?

The A-29 Super Tucano is a turboprop for close air support, counterinsurgency, reconnaissance and advanced training. Embraer says more than 300 have been sold to over 20 countries since it entered service in 2004, with over 600,000 flight hours logged. Orders in 2025 covered 10 aircraft: Uruguay (five), Panama (four) and Sierra Nevada Corporation (one), which supports U.S. Foreign Military Sales cases. Paraguay signed for six in August 2024. In November 2025 the company announced a project to add counter-drone capability to the platform.

What Is Embraer’s Role in the Gripen Programme?

In July 2014 Embraer agreed with Saab to jointly manage Brazil’s F-X2 fighter programme, now the F-39 Gripen. Embraer says it took a material share of systems development, integration, flight testing, final assembly and deliveries. The two companies opened a Gripen E production line at Embraer’s Gavião Peixoto plant in 2023, and 15 of Brazil’s 36 Gripen E aircraft will be assembled there. By the end of 2025 five Brazilian-assembled aircraft were in production at once.

In November 2025 Embraer and Saab finished certification flight tests of in-flight refuelling of the Gripen E from a KC-390, with the Brazilian Air Force. Revenue rose 18.5% in 2025. Operating income fell to US$607.6 million from US$667.5 million, largely because 2024 included proceeds from the Boeing arbitration. Of the 2025 backlog, US$14.5 billion was commercial, US$7.6 billion executive, US$4.9 billion services and US$4.6 billion defence, up from US$4.2 billion. Forecast International reported a 6.8% adjusted EBIT margin for Defense & Security, down from 17.5%.
