France Orders Four More SAMP/T NG Units, Total Now 12

France has ordered four more SAMP/T NG firing units from Eurosam to strengthen its air and missile defence. The total order for the French Air and Space Force now stands at 12.
Order Details
According to reports, the order was announced on October 22, 2026, with OCCAR awarding the contract on France’s behalf. The systems will be delivered to the French Air and Space Force in a multi-layer configuration using ASTER and MICA VL missiles. The French configuration uses Thales’s Ground Fire 300 radar and the next-generation Aster 30 Block 1 NT as its main interceptor. France’s procurement agency DGA did not disclose the value of the order.

Deliveries and Integration
The first system was delivered in early 2026, and deliveries are scheduled to continue until the end of 2030. In April 2026, the DGA also contracted Eurosam via OCCAR to integrate the short-range VL MICA and VL MICA NG missiles into SAMP/T NG as a second interceptor layer alongside the Aster 30.
What Is SAMP/T NG?
SAMP/T NG is the new generation of the Franco-Italian land-based long-range air and missile defence system using the Aster 30 missile. It is designed to protect against aircraft, cruise missiles and ballistic threats.
