“Japan’s manufacturing strength and our operational experience are a powerful combination,” said Sven Kruck, co-chief executive officer. “We are proud to put down roots in Japan and honoured to help strengthen its defence industrial base.”

The memoranda extend existing relationships and aim to deepen industrial cooperation. Quantum Systems said building local capacity would reduce reliance on overseas supply chains and support long-term access to defence technologies.

The MOSAIC UXS Interoperability Pitch

The company plans to offer unmanned systems across air, land and sea. Its MOSAIC UXS software platform coordinates those systems, which makes interoperability the centre of the sales pitch.

“The challenge is no longer simply acquiring individual platforms but ensuring that different capabilities can operate together across all domains,” said Martin Karkour, chief revenue officer. He said the company will look for operational gaps and work with Japanese partners to fill them with mission-ready capabilities.

No Japanese customer, order or product selection has been announced.

The Quantum Systems Drone Range

Why Japan, and Why Now

Quantum Systems says Japan is showing growing demand for unmanned defence systems. A local subsidiary lets the company adapt systems to Japanese operational requirements and work with domestic manufacturers. That makes Japanese production partners central to any future sale, which is analysis rather than a company statement.

What to watch
The announcement names no order or production plan. Watch for a first Japanese customer, details of what Mitsubishi Chemical and Panasonic would build, and whether the Tokyo entity assembles any aircraft locally.
