What Is the Anduril YFQ-44A Fury? Overview, History and Development

The US Air Force designated the aircraft YFQ-44A in 2025 for Increment 1 of its Collaborative Combat Aircraft programme. Its rival in that increment is the General Atomics YFQ-42A. Anduril says the aircraft has a single jet engine and an internal weapons bay, and is designed to fly as a loyal wingman to F-35 and F-22 pilots using autonomy software. Official speed, range and weight figures have not been released, and third-party numbers should be treated as unconfirmed.

First flight took place on 31 October 2025, according to Anduril and USAF statements. Production is planned at Anduril’s Arsenal-1 facility in Columbus, Ohio. The USAF said an Increment 1 production decision was planned for fiscal year 2026, with 100 or more aircraft initially and a larger fleet later. No export customers are confirmed. Comparable aircraft include the Kratos XQ-58A Valkyrie, Australia’s MQ-28 Ghost Bat and China’s GJ-11.
