What Is the Stugna-P? Overview, History and Development

Stugna-P was developed by the Luch Design Bureau in Kyiv, part of Ukroboronprom, and first deliveries to Ukrainian forces took place between about 2011 and 2018, depending on source. It fires 130 mm RK-2S or 152 mm RK-2M missiles with tandem HEAT warheads, with armour penetration above 1,000 to 1,200 mm RHA behind reactive armour (manufacturer claim). Guidance is laser beam-riding in manual or semi-automatic mode. Range is 5 km by day, about 3 km at night and about 5.5 km for the 152 mm missile.

The system weighs about 97 kg with the 130 mm missile and about 104 kg with the 152 mm missile. Variants include the Skif-M of 2022 with a lighter tripod and new sight, the SERDAR remote weapon station with 2 to 4 missiles, and vehicle launchers. It has been widely used in the 2022 war and credited with many Russian armour kills. Operators are Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Algeria, Morocco and Qatar, and Turkish co-production has been reported. Rivals include Javelin, NLAW, Kornet, Spike and OMTAS.
