UMTAS (Uzun Menzilli Tank Savar Füzesi) development began in 2005, with the design phase complete in 2008 and series production from 2016-2017. The standard missile uses an imaging infrared seeker, while the L-UMTAS has a lighter semi-active laser seeker for drones. Range is about 8 km, with a tandem HEAT warhead and top-attack mode, and a length of about 1.8 m. Mass is about 37.5 kg for the base version.
Platforms include the T129 ATAK, AH-1W SuperCobra, SH-60 Seahawk, Hürkuş, Hürjet and the Bayraktar TB2 and Akıncı. Only Turkish forces are confirmed operators, and no export is confirmed. The T129 reportedly used it in Syria and northern Iraq from 2016. Roketsan has quoted longer-range UMTAS-GM variants at up to about 32 km. UMTAS should not be confused with the OMTAS or the MAM-L.
